Pilgrims pathways, River rides
Walking or driving into
the surrounding countryside takes you through traditional
village life, festivals and legends.
The hotel will arrange a visit to nearby Panuati,
an ancient riverside town of temples and waysides
inns and places of pilgrimage for Hindus. Also to
the high perched valley of Gossainkund, the red
mountain where, at the festivals of August Full
noon, traditional healers perform their tranced
dance. You can follow the paths of pilgrimage further
afield in a mini-trek through the tiered valleys
and small village to the shrine of Namobuddha, which
commemorates one of the most compassionate legends
of The Lord Buddha and be back at the hotel in time
for the sunset.
Excursions can also be arranged to Bhaktapur, one
of the three inner kingdoms of ancient Nepal, and
day trips to the Tibetan border, the hot sulphur
springs at Taatopani, as well as river-rafting,
fishing and bird watching.
